LYNX YIRAN WANG
Artist / Animator / Director
Yiran Wang is a artist and filmmaker graduated from the MSD Architecture Department of the University of Melbourne and studied in the Character Animation Department at California Institute of the Arts, where she was honored with the Lillian Disney Scholarship. She exchanged at UCLA in 2018. Yiran has achieved numerous international awards and recognitions for her work, including the iJungle International Illustration Competition 2020 New Talent Award and the Dalian Cultural and Museum Journey Culture and Museum Enthusiast Awards. In 2023, her work was featured in the "Through Time and Space" exhibition organized by the Museum of Chinese Australian History, supported by the Australian Embassy in Beijing and RMIT University.
Yiran's film "Letter from Fukushima" has been showcased and awarded at various film festivals and exhibitions worldwide, such as the Dalian Urban Public Art Biennale, the World Health Organization (WHO) "Health for All Film" Festival, and the Yale College Film Festival. She has also made significant contributions to the artistic and educational community by presenting and giving lectures at events like the Zhihu Live talk, Art Media Lab open class, and various workshops and residency programs.
Yiran Wang's journey as an artist and filmmaker showcases her exceptional talent, dedication, and passion for pushing the boundaries of creativity and storytelling. During her time at the University of Melbourne, she was awarded first prize in the Visual Unit of the Melbourne Annual Poetry Anthology "Above Water" submission event, and designed the cover and posters for the 2018 collection. Her architectural design work was showcased in the textbook "Visualizing Environmental," both on the cover and within the textbook. In the two years at CalArts, she worked as a Student Ambassador and Teaching Assistant for the Institution. Her work participated in multiple Art Exhibitions, including the CalArts 50th
Anniversary Celebration Happenings Project, CalArts Open Show 2019, CalArts Expo 2019, CalArts Expo 2020, CalArts Gallery Night, and CalArts International Week Art Exhibition.
She presented and gave lectures at many public educational and artistic events, aiming to promote knowledge and creativity. Including Zhihu Live talk, Art Media Lab open class, 20212 Tactileye x Goethe-Institut Beijing "Tactile Riddles" accessibility workshop, 2023 the Wuzhen Langyuan Art x Solaris Art "Beyond The Dome · Wuzhen Again" Residency Program, 2021 “Picture Book @ Dalian” event organized by the Dalian Women's Federation and Dalian Mass Organizations Service Center in conjunction with China Reading Ltd. In 2022, she volunteered at Bonjourbushu’s Book Foreshore in Dalian event, which celebrated indie publishing and artistic design of books.
Yiran's artistic journey is a testament to her exceptional talent, unwavering dedication, and profound passion for the world of art and film. As an alumna of the University of Melbourne and California Institute of the Arts, she has consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity and storytelling.
